I'm tired of overproduced and unattainable depictions of sex, especially when we're all cooped up inside our homes and life isn't exactly a glossy magazine. With Jungly, the third single from my album, The Sex Issue, I want to feel something real. I want to connect with raw, primal, hedonistic, liberated desire. The sound is just as wild. Jungly's percussive core is a UK Jungle beat, layered with Indian tribal rhythms and samples from the chart-topping 1981 song, Yeh kahan aa gaye hum, from the Bollywood classic film Silsila.

My lonely generation is having less sex than ever. In this lockdown, world of fakes, relentless Trump, we want something real. Happy Mag calls Jungly "as much a call for freedom as it is a beacon of catharsis." The 8 Telly Award-winning music video for Jungly uses symbolism like tattoos, hijabs, jewelry from Islamic, Hindu and Indian tribal cultures, that shaped me through my time in India. BTW, for The Sex Issue project, I hired an only-all female run production, cast only poc, non-binary or trans talent. We understand otherness, and we have fun while doing it.
